With a long and distinguished track record of building high-performing teams, new Apptega CTO John Eastman is well-equipped to lead the company’s fast-growing engineering organization as it continues development of the only continuous compliance platform purpose-built for managed security providers.
Specializing in highly scalable distributed systems and collaboration platforms, Eastman is tasked with super charging Apptega’s technology strategy and ushering in a new phase of development for the company. He brings three decades of experience in software development, including highly successful tenures as CTO of middleware provider Mezeo and most recently VP of product and engineering for Zimbra, a collaboration and email platform that was acquired by Synacor in 2015.
An avid technology enthusiast, when he’s not leading engineering efforts for high-growth companies, Eastman can often be found recreating vintage tech — preserving the past by building anew. As Apptega CTO, however, he’s focused on innovation and building something that’s never been built before.
“We have an incredible opportunity to build software solutions that empower managed security providers as well as forward-thinking IT teams to build scalable, audit-ready security and compliance programs in a fraction of the time and with far fewer resources than the tools on the market today,” Eastman said. “Our goal is to deliver real-time compliance and security posture scoring so that organizations can go beyond checking boxes and instead answer with certainty the question, ‘Am I secure?’”
Eastman’s hiring comes on the heels of several other additions to the Apptega leadership team, as the company has focused on injecting its executive ranks with deep SaaS and security expertise.
Earlier this year, we announced Rahul Bakshi, formerly head of product at eSentire, a global leader in MDR with 2,000+ customers, as chief product officer. Next, we brought on Wyman Lewis as CISO and Dilshan Ratnayake as chief people officer, both coming to Apptega from the managed service provider space, each having held a leadership position with Securonix.
Eastman adds yet another layer of experience and expertise to our leadership team and will be an essential partner to the many managed service and security providers in the Apptega ecosystem.
